Academic integrity is an essential part of learning at Concordia St. Paul. To help students and instructors maintain these standards, we offer a variety of tools that encourage originality, proper citation, and responsible use of information. These resources make it easier to learn, create, and collaborate with confidence.
Settings such as adding access codes and controlling when test results and feedback are displayed to students can also provide added layers of security within a course.
TurnItInThis tool can be enabled on assignments and will compare students' submissions to a variety of resources (both external and internal to CSP) to identify potential instances of plagiarism. Find more info about Turnitin here.
Create a question pool to randomize both the questions and answer layout (as in, possible multiple-choice answers are randomized so that the correct answer to a given question might be A for one student, C for another, etc.). This means that no two students will have the exact same test.
Respondus LockDown BrowserLockDown Browser is a custom browser by Respondus that locks down the testing environment within My Courses to prevent unethical academic behavior. Students cannot print, copy, navigate to another website, or use a browser add-on —everything is locked down until the exam is submitted for grading. This prevents them from viewing class notes, content, searching the Internet, accessing email, using instant messaging, and more.
Monitor is an additional webcam tool that can be used in tandem with the LockDown Browser tool. Monitor records students during their tests and monitor for certain activities. Students are required to use a webcam and microphone when Monitor is enabled. Once the test is completed, instructors can review the recording and are notified of any flagged activity in the recording.
