CI 587: Reading Across the Content Areas

Use OneSearch to find graphic novels by title or you can use keywords (e.g. character name, author, etc.) with the keyword graphic novels.

For example: 

• Amazing Spider-Man Brand New Day  or Spiderman graphic novels
• Dragons graphic novels
• Neil Gaiman graphic novels 
• Horror graphic novels

Find online items in the CSP Library:

1. Use graphic novels as a keyword in your search.

2. Limit to Online items @CSP

3. Limit to Books.  Note: At this point, you will mostly see books about graphic novels.

4. Limit by Subject or Genre or a combination of both.

• Use as many filters as needed under the Subject or Genre categories to find fiction and non-fiction graphic novels.

For example:

• Limit by Subject: 
  • Manga, Magic Graphic Novels, Adventure Fiction, Fairy Tales, Science Fiction, etc. (selecting these will help you locate actual fiction or non-fiction graphic novels instead of books about graphic novels)
• Limit by Genre:
  • Fiction, Adaptations, Biography, Science Fiction, etc. (selecting these will help you locate actual fiction or non-fiction graphic novels instead of books about graphic novels)

Enter keywords into OneSearch and select filters

Limit by Subject

Limit by Genre

Find physical items in the CSP Library:

1. Use graphic novels as a keyword in your search.

2. Limit to Books.

3. Limit to Physical items@CSP.

4. Limit to a collection or collections in the CSP Library (e.g. Juvenile Fiction, Juvenile Nonfiction, Main Collection, etc.)

• Graphic novels are located on the lower level (with a few exceptions) of the Library Technology Center. Contact the library if you need help finding library materials.
