Online Access to Literary Magazines

The CSP Library has access to a sampling of literary magazines and creative writing journals through our online databases.

Follow these steps to find articles, poetry, stories, and other content from literary magazines:

Click on a magazine title below. You'll go to a page with information about the magazine and a list of library databases that have that magazine in the collection.
Click on one of the databases in the list.
You can then do two things:
1. Look for a list of dates to browse previous issues, i.e. click on 2020 to see the content published in 2020
2. Look for a section called "Search within the publication" to search for a specific author, story, poem, etc.

Note: if you go directly to a literary magazine's website, you may not have access to the articles.

African American Review
African American Review is a scholarly aggregation of insightful essays on African American literature, theatre, film, the visual arts, and culture; interviews; poetry; fiction; and book reviews.
American Poetry Review
The American Poetry Review is dedicated to reaching a worldwide audience with a diverse array of the best contemporary poetry and literary prose. APR also aims to expand the audience interested in poetry and literature, and to provide authors, especially poets, with a far-reaching forum in which to present their work.
Antioch Review
The Antioch Review, founded in 1941 in Ohio, is one of the oldest, continuously publishing literary magazines in America. The Antioch Review publishes essays, fiction, and poetry from promising and prominent authors.
Chicago Review
Since 1946, Chicago Review has published a range of contemporary poetry, fiction, and criticism.
Georgia Review
The Georgia Review seeks to create a lasting environment for literature by supporting writers at every stage of their careers.
Kenyon Review
Kenyon Review is devoted to nurturing, publishing, and celebrating the best in contemporary writing.
New England Review
Publishes new fiction, poetry, and nonfiction that is both challenging and inviting and encourages artistic exchange and thought-provoking innovation, providing publishing opportunities for writers at all stages in their careers.
The New Yorker
The New Yorker is renowned for its in-depth reporting, political and cultural commentary, fiction, poetry, and humor.
Ploughshares
Published four times per year, the journal features fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.
The Southern Review
The Southern Review strives to discover and promote a diverse array of engaging, relevant, and challenging literature—including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and translation from literary luminaries as well as the best established and emerging writers.
Virginia Quarterly Review
Published by The University of Virginia since 1925. Publishes content on literary topics, public affairs, the arts, history, and the economy.
