The Library and Academic Support Services provides instructors and faculty a range of services for promoting tutoring in their classrooms. These services include classroom visits, customized fliers, tutoring reports, and library workshops.
At any time throughout the semester, instructors may request to have a tutor or a member of our professional staff introduce themselves and talk about our tutoring services. Tutoring staff can talk to your class about how to book an appointment, prepare for a session, and best utilize tutoring for themselves. Visits can range from anywhere between 10 and 30 minutes in length, depending on what you would like staff to discuss.
Faculty who are interested in having a member of our tutoring staff visit their class should fill out the Research and Academic Support Workshop Request Form that can be found on the Workshops section of the Faculty Guide to the Library.
If you are unsure when to request classroom visit, we recommend having someone come in to talk about tutoring services 2 to 3 weeks before a major exam or midterm.
Faculty that are interested in promoting tutoring services for students in their class can email tutoring@csp.edu to ask for custom digital fliers for their course. Fliers can be used to promote general tutoring services, upcoming study prep sessions, or library workshops and events instructors would like students to attend.
Fliers take around one week to complete from the time requested and may take longer depending on if there is a holiday or if the Tutoring Manager is taking PTO. Default size for fliers are 5.5 inches x 8.5 inches for instructors who want to print their fliers and hand them out. Fliers can be resized if requested. All fliers will be sent via email and can be hung in the library upon request from the instructor.
Faculty interested in seeing what a flier looks like can check out the sample flier below:
Faculty or departments can reach out at any time throughout the semester to ask for reports or statistics about the number of students utilizing tutoring services. Instructors should specify what information they are seeking and how they would like that information delivered. More detailed reports about tutoring services over the course of a semester or year can be requested. Instructors can expect reports emailed to them 2 weeks after their initial request.
Email tutoring@csp.edu with requests.
Throughout the school year, the Library and Academic Support Services offer workshops to undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty. These workshops range in content from semester to semester, but include workshops about undergraduate writing, research strategies for graduate students, and preparation for finals.
The library workshop schedule is available here with links to register. Faculty or instructors who have questions about any workshop offered or would like to suggest a workshop topic for a future semester can email tutoring@csp.edu.
