Search Strategies

OER materials can be found in a variety of online repositories. Two strategies (elaborated below) that you can use to locate those materials include using advanced Google search features to locate openly licensed materials, and searching prominent OER repositories. We also encourage you to work with your library liaison to locate the materials that will work for you.

Search for OER on Google

1. Select Advanced Search

Use Google Settings to choose Advanced Search

2. On the Advanced Search page from the usage rights menu select the type of rights you want allowed for items.From the usage rights menu select the type of license you want the item to have

3. Review materials on the results page

OER Repositories

OER repositories compile OER resources that you can search through. These repositories offer a variety of search features including ratings and reviews, filters by discipline or type of resource, audience level, etc. You can look at these suggested repositories to locate materials. We also encourage you to work with your library liaison to locate the materials that will work for you.
