BIO 130: Biology II Diversity of Life

Use this guide to find articles for your Article Review assignments.

For Your Article Review assignment

You'll be finding a published scientific article of some kind and reviewing it. There are many kinds of articles that get published, and for your assignment, you can generally categorize them as either:

1) Popular press articles
2) Primary, peer-reviewed articles

*Remember to choose an article that directly relates to topics discussed in class.

Having Trouble Picking a Topic?

  • Think about what interests you most from your class weekly readings, discussions, labs, or lectures.

  • Review your Unit Terms List  for ideas on how terms and concepts connect.

  • Talk to a librarian, your professor, or class peers for ideas!

  • Use an AI tool like ChatGPT to generate topic ideas. Unsure how to use AI tools appropriately? See this tutorial about Using AI in Research.

Start a Search with OneSearch

Find Articles on Websites

Sometimes, it's helpful to read articles directly on a magazine or newspaper's website. Check out some of these popular sources to look for articles. If you don't have access to the full-text article, come back to the library's website:

Library databases each contain and search different resources and are more focused than OneSearch. Not sure which one to use? Ask a librarian and we'll be happy to help you choose the right one!
