ED 487: Reading Across the Content Areas

Find Sources for Pre-Reading Activities

Use these databases to find background context related to your novel for the YA Literature Pre-Reading Activity assignment. The sources you find in library databases are more credible than those you find online using Wikipedia or Google.

Note: Databases contain different articles so it's important to try more than one. If you need help, ask a librarian!

  • CREDO Reference is useful for cultural and historical context
  • Children's Literature Review is useful for author, plot, and literary themes context

Find YA Books in OneSearch

  • Search by title or series name if you know the book that you want.  For example, Darth Paper strikes back or Origami Yoda.
  • If you can't find a match by book title, try including a series name or author name in your search.

Searching in one search for chapter and series books by title or series name.
