The Library is excited to share its new AI-powered OneSearch Research Assistant tool.
The Research Assistant enhances the Library's existing OneSearch tool, allowing users to explore academic content by asking questions in natural language. The Research Assistant identifies five documents for each query that can help answer your question. It then extracts the most relevant information from the abstract of each source to draft an overview. For each query, in-line citations show the source used to generate each part of the overview. You can use these sources to delve deeper into the topic and fact-check the tool's responses. You can also connect with a librarian using the embedded online chat link.
The OneSearch Research Assistant is part of the Library's strategy of responsibly incorporating AI-based tools into the research process. Today's students will enter a workforce where they will be expected to interact with AI tools thoughtfully and ethically. Exposure to tools like the Research Assistant allows our students to explore AI-based tools backed by reliable sources and fundamental research concepts like citing sources.
